LoTW Certificates for 1×1 Call Signs

Today I received my .TQ6 file from the ARRL, one business day after requesting it. I followed my instructions and decided to clarify two points. I’ve created a .pdf file which I have found to be impossible to attach to this post, but it’s in the files section of the Dashboard. Incidentally, I used the method of double-clicking on the .TQ6 file to install the certificate – it was automatic after that except for pressing “OK” to acknowledge the process after it completed. If anyone finds any inaccuracies in my instructions please let me know.

Would someone please explain how to link to a file within a post? I don’t think I’ve managed to do it yet and that should be an easy thing to do. It certainly is one we should know how to do.

How to Create a 1×1 Call Sign Certificate for LoTW

  1. Pat: I’m probably dense…but I don’t see anything about “files” when I go to Dashboard. I waited to get my 1 x 1 on LoTW…as I surmised there may be some corrective updates. I believe I may have been right. 73!

  2. Pat:
I took the liberty of adding the link to your file that you placed in the Media folder. To put the link into the posting, first get yourself into the screen where you create/edit the posting; then place the cursor where you want the link to be placed. Right above the block that has the Bold, Underline, Italics buttons you will see “Upload/insert” followed by 4 symbols. Click on the right-most symbol (Add Media). In the Add Media pop-up window, click on the “Media Library” tab at the top. Select the media item that you want to link to by clickong on “Show”: fill in any of the other boxes that you want to and then at the bottom click on “Insert in Post.”

    That should do it!

  3. After following Pat’s excellent instructions, I just got my “.tq6” file back from ARRL for K1K, in less than an hour after I submitted the .tq5 certificate. Now to finish the process.

    Thanks, Pat!

  4. Oh! That’s what I was not doing, I wasn’t placing the cursor where I wanted the link to appear in the post. I did everything else except that. I “assumed” it would just insert it. Not!

    Thanks, Ken!

  5. John, it’s not you, it’s definitely me. On the left-hand side of the Dashboard, under “Media” (not “Files”) is a link for the “Library”. In there you’ll see some files. If you click on the down arrow next to the “date” field it will order them by the most recently-added first – you’ll see the instructions first, OR you can search by “1×1” and the file will come up that way too.

Then move your cursor to the area under the file name and you’ll see some menu items. Click on “View” and the document will open up.

Of course, Ken already inserted a link to the document in the original post, but the method I just described works for any media files.

  6. I did mine for K1T. I already have it listed in Trusted QSL with the gold ribbon. Thanks Pat.
