  1. Ken,

Thanks for putting this up on the Web Site. W1AN, W1WBB and K1DM operated multi-single (mostly CW). Once John gets caught up on sleep, I am sure he will have some information. I wimped out on Saturday night and went home. I have Sunday commitments that require me to be at least awake on Sunday morning so all-nighters are not a great idea for me.
I am certain there will be some results from BARTG RTTY contest as well.

Thanks for all you do for CTRI CG, Ken. I appreciate your efforts, and your friendship. 73, Mike, K1DM

The Russian DX Contest was a new experience for me. Mike, K1DM and Bill, W1WBB did most of the macro setup and much of the operating. Band conditions, I’m sure all will agree, conditions were pretty poor for the week prior and into this contest. Noise levels and static crashes made tough, painful copy on 160M and 80M. Forty was OK and 20M was where the Qs were to be found. More Qs were had on 80M than 15M. Ten did not have much to offer. This contest was more like working the bottom of the solar cycle than near the top. But then 160M and 80M would likely have been better. Not much activity on SSB. It was just too miserable there.

In spite of the band conditions it was nice to have fellow CTRI boys over for this one.

  3. Well, you guys got to 1 million! Good job. It was great to share operations with you and Bill. I keep learning every time I play at your place. One of these days I may start to feel like a world-class operator. I know the station is world-class, based on how we’ve scored in contests since I joined the CTRI CG gang.

I would like to look at the log and data base to assess how I did compared to you two, and also look at how we did by band and by time!

  4. Mike:
If you export the log to an ADIF file and then import it into Write Log, you can generate some pretty neat reports on bands, countries, and I don’t know about operators. Also, if you get the Cabrillo file, you and open it with Excel and do different sorts to look at almost anything that you want.

    Great effort, guys!

  5. Yes, we soldiered thru under very difficult condx to Russia this year. For comparison just to last year from my humble home station with 100w and only wire antennas (no beam at the time) and in just 13 hrs op time I worked more Russian regions on 20m (25 vs. 23 at W1DX) and had 17 Ru regions on 15m (vs. *Zero* at W1DX this year). Russia felt VERY far away this year.

Disappointing to have so little of 15m and really no Eu on 10m. Still, it was alot of fun and our CW macros seemed to work very well for us. Good practice operating single TX with a mult-hunting 2nd stn too. Thanks again to John W1AN and Nancy W1NAN for hosting us…the 24 hr format is nice!

  6. Ken,

Thanks for the information. Once I get the file, I will play. I am also trying to re-educate generating reports and queries in ACCESS, so I figure this will help me with that too.

  7. Wow, that’s a challange! Years ago, I did some programming in DB3 and when Access was brought forward, I thought it would be easy to simply transfer my skills to that. Was I ever wrong! I still haven’t figured out Access. Good luck.
