CQWW CW @ W1AN/W1DX this weekend (23/24 Nov 2013) – Operator Scheduling

CTRI’ers,

I want to contribute to the effort this weekend @ John’s, but I have some commitments that are going to force me to operate only at certain times.  I’d like to coordinate those times if at all possible so that we spread the operators out over the entire weekend, instead of us having a lump of ops all at the same time (sitting around rag-chewing instead of operating).

Please post what times you can be there, and what times you absolutely can’t be there, and perhaps we can “force fit” ops to the entire weekend without too many problems.  I will work with John on Thursday and Friday during the day to assist with final preparations, like making sure the F-key labels are ready, the computer files are up-to-date, etc.

I CANNOT operate early Friday evening, nor Sunday morning through mid afternoon.  I guess that means I could be available most of Saturday.  I would like to get some sleep Saturday night since I have a busy Sunday morning/afternoon.

Thanks for posting your options.  I am looking forward to sitting behind the stack on 15-meters (5 over 5).  We should have good propagation – it should be a blast.

  1. I can get there early Sunday morning…say about 0600 and spend most of the day. I would like to leave before sunset ‘cuz I am really not fond of too much driving after dark, especially after spending a day getting my brain scrambled.

  2. John,
Good question. Unless W1AN trumps my reply, M2. We found earlier this year that M1 was just not efficient, given the excellent two=station set-up John has built. We don’t have a multiplier position right now, but that could be fixed, but with antennas and rigs/amps for two well-equipped positions, it didn’t keep two operators employed with an M1.

  3. GL to all in CTRI this weekend. Look for N3KCJ (CTRI in exile!!) from zone 3.will be SOAB
10 thru 40 only. CU on the airways FOSTER

  4. I can arrive Friday eve before 6PM and start out the contest (begin @ 00 Zulu or 7PM). Can operate into Saturday but happy to turn over a position anytime, trade for rest! Available as necessary first 24 hrs, possibly more. 20m CW itself could prove to be a near 24-hr open band with recent condx. I would expect both seats to be busy (running!) throughout the weekend. Contest should be much fun with our CW gang… 73, Bill W1WBB

  5. I was hoping to put some time in the chair for this contest but I don’t think I’ll be able to make it down there. Since I’m only good for S&P on CW anyway you’re not missing much.

  6. Gang,
As of Wednesday Morning, it looks like we could use some more help on both Saturday and Sunday. All club members are welcome. Saturday night is open for more ops. Since John will no doubt welcome some sleep during the weekend, it would be nice to have a couple more operators reserve some time slots that would fit their schedule.

Pat, you’re welcome anytime if you can make it.

I will post what the schedule looks like sometime Thursday.
This is beginning to look pretty good. There’s still room for more, however.

  7. Good luck you guys. And Foster, great to hear from you from AZ! I will be trying SOAB LP Assisted. I should have 160M and 80M for this contest unlike the CQWW Phone. Thanks again to KB1LN and K1SD for the help last weekend.

    Best of luck to everyone

  8. Hi guys, looks like we will have some fun this weekend. To get the best point score and rates possible during periods when we have both chairs occupied we’ll run a mult-2. This will help add more to the clubs aggregate score.

I will be doing some shack preparation tomorrow. Cleaning up the cobwebs, chasing out the rats, marking antenna cables, updating country files, etc.

There’s a new fridge in the basement now for anyone who wants to store snacks, drinks or wants to bring their own food. Nancy and I will provide the regular meals and drinks. The coffee pot and microwave are also available 24hrs.

Chair warmers are still needed, especially over-nighters, where there is plenty of opportunity for S&P ops. Since this is not a WPX contest we will use W1DX for the station call.

Good luck to Foster in AZ. Looking forward to seeing you again on your next trip east.

  9. CTRI Ops;

We can still use more operators. Please come give us a hand.

Presently, we have for Friday evening into the sleepy hours of Saturday: W1AN, W1WBB
On Saturday, we have: K1DM, and whatever energy is left from W1AN and W1WBB.
Saturday evening it looks like W1AN, who by then will be sleeping.
Sunday will be K3IU and W1AN. K1DM may show up for the last couple hours, but can’t say for sure.

If you come, you will be able to work. You will have fun! Give us a try

  10. Looking forward to seeing the team this weekend! Yes, hope a few more will give it a go…even S&P from a chair that would go unfilled is a big help and much fun, esp with band condx like these.

John, W1AN, my expected ETA between ~ 5:30-6PM for final preps before start. CU then! 73, Bill W1WBB

  11. It’s Sunday morning 1219Z and things are rolling along nicely. Ken K3IU is on an almost virgin 20M band and Bill W1WBB is warming up 15M. To give the guys some rest and if you have some time today we could use an operator from about noon until the bell. We are putting together one of the best scores yet from W1DX.

    73,
    John, W1AN.
