February 4, 2017 Meeting

Greetings, all,

Mike, K1DM, sent this today about another possible venue for February 4th’s meeting. We are scheduled to go to T’s restaurant but I wanted to throw this out there for the membership’s consideration. Time is short so please reply ASAP with your choice.

The Cadets at W1CGA would like to invite us to share their hamshack for the Feb 4th meeting.  We can hold the meeting in the Communications Lab (home of W1CGA) and stay all day.  Coffee and other food are be allowed.  Mike will provide additional information about access to the Coast Guard Academy grounds if the meeting venue is approved by the CTRI members.

Following the meeting, it might be fun to introduce the Cadets to RTTY since the Mexico RTTY contest is that day.

There are some other issues regarding the W1CGA antenna farm that we may be able to assist with – more to follow.

Also, the Cadets are scheduling a VE Exam for later in February.  We have about half a dozen already licensed, and probably 20 who showed up for the preliminary meeting this passed week!  Very exciting. If you are a ARRL VE, and would like to help proctor the exam, please let Mike know.  We could use some EXTRA class license holders.

CTRI Meeting January 14

The January CTRI Meeting is this Saturday, Jan. 14., at 10 AM in the main floor meeting room of the North Kingstown Free Library, 100 Boone Street., Wickford, RI. With the holidays, it’s been two months since our last meeting…so good time to get together for a program treat.  Member Lars Mohlin, KE1J (ex-SM0GMG) will give a presentation on the Reverse beacon Network (RBN) .. info we could all use.  Lars is one of the ops at the K2LE super contest station in southern Vermont.  Not only that but K1DM, W1AN, K1SD, W1XX, and W1YRC will be wearing their NPOTA hats while giving a photo wrap=up of their multiple National Parks On the Air activations.

It’s been a long time since I hosted refreshments at my house…fortunately no antennas have fallen down…so I will provide the box of DD Joe and donuts.  The agenda will no doubt include the usual items for discussion.  So…see you at the meeting. 73 & HNY. — John, W1XX

Subject: [ctricg] ARRL RTTY RoundUp

Gentlemen,

Happy New Contesting Year !

We get started this weekend with the ARRL RTTY Roundup. http://www.arrl.org/rtty-roundup

It runs 1800Z 1/7 – 2400Z 1/8. Local: Saturday 1 pm till Sunday 7 pm. States are multipliers, so RI and CT are popular.

I’m going to try and put some time in and hope to see a couple of RI and CT mults in the log.

Anyone else planning a go at it?

Please post scores on the site and we can review at the Saturday January 14th meeting at the NK Library.
